Q1: How important is it to build strong brand/personal image on digital media?

From Nancy Katyal:

  • Your image is everything today. Your brand represents everything you are or everything you aspire to be, as an organisation. It acts as the perception that people have of your business, products and services.
  • Many ways your image in the online world is an extension of what people perceive of you. We often google about people even before we meet them in person and it is no different when it comes to choosing a service or a product.
  • Fake image building doesn’t last long because you may use social media to get viral posts however it will in the end won’t come to your advantage unless you have a good product. Good product/ service lasts longer.
  • What social media gives you is the power to further accentuate your image by reaching out, engaging and networking and give it a mass appeal for anyone who has heard about you and would like to know more.

From the Community:

  • It is almost mandatory these days. As whether B2B or B2C we deal with a person. And all the perceptions are made before meeting them, so what describes your personality? It’s your personal branding.-
  • I’d like to add to this point that she has mentioned. Not only are we building our images on digital media but also positioning a brand in the market.
  • Globalization and social media have made the world smaller, more connected and infinitely more competitive. Your competition for a job or business opportunity may be anywhere in the world—at the desk next to you or continents away.
  • – People look out for good signs when deciding. – A brand persona without any bad reputation is what people look out towards when making decisions. – Those without bad reputations, and with known presence may signal being better ones.
  • It’s as good as your ‘real estate’ on the digital world. Put as much or more efforts than your brick and mortar store.
  • Brand Building is an important factor for any organization as it retains and build customer loyalty in Digital Media.
  • many a times I feel what people portray of any brand, is not exactly the same. Specially the boasting by even when people are unsatisfied with the brand. What if becomes bluffing?
  • A digital presence from a brand perspective counts for a lot in today’s hyper-competitive times. A great digital brand personality often ensures greater customer engagement and overall brand visibility. In essence, becoming a major differentiator.
  • Digtial Media is considered to be your new age business card. So it’s very important to build ur image on digital media.
  • Much imp. – Image is mightier then Words.
  • Very important , as digital is first media anyone looks up for you now.
  • In today’s world of – digital world., we need to put as much or more efforts than your brick and mortar store.
  • Most important because positioning of person will start from “I”, “You” & “We” finally community.

From Nancy Katyal:

  • As in the offline world, remember tht people bring their own experiences & watch everything on social media with their own tinted glasses. So while u may have d sound image however through social media, people will also consider whether they like you, know you or trust you. People should like what you do before they can do the work of sharing for you. plus digital media has more outreach: using digital media channels enables your message to be shared incredibly quickly. I love what Jeff Bezos said“Your brand is what other people say about you when you are not in the room’. Digital Branding is grabbing a lot of attention for connecting, marketing & promoting. Not to forget people spend a great amount of time of their lives now a days on social media.

It’s all a canvas, put it what you want and what your creativity says. But most of the and CEO/big-shots follow same monotonous routine. Personal/professional everything ruled by Industry.
  • It reflects the actual standing. Hence, Should be logically reflective.
  • A presence at every popular places known to people – may signal the brand/entity being alive and healthy. – may signal the brand/entity being up to the mark in understanding present requirements.

Q3: How and Where to start with image building through digital platforms?

From Nancy Katyal:

  • To start with choose 1-2 platforms which you are most comfortable with, e.g. if you are a person who loves to post Images along with a few captions then Instagram is the perfect platform for you. Linkedin is a very professional platform. Twitter is a wonderful platform if you want to connect and express your candid thoughts. Maintain consistency and the right balance while posting content.. Not too much and not too less is the key.

From the Community:

  • The issue with that is that for most small businesses they don’t have the time, ma power or resources to be everywhere.. so they end up automating & duplicating everywhere.. waste of time.
  • Pizza has Perpetual taste, started from whatever part. So does the SM. If you have to digitize, start it from wherever, but should have max coverage.
  • Start with the most popular locations where most of the close friends are present. Start with the locations that’s managed well.
  • Purchase and iPhone and put a pouting selfie on Instagram, share on Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook, Hike, Snapchat and be famous. On a retrospective analysis, I have seen many people suggested this platform and that strategy, making you feel they are Chanakya, but eventually their fails and social media marketing campaign flops. Just do what you like. Start a blog, Do freelancing, Make contact, Be honest not mediocre, Be the chaos, apply creativity. Eat ice cream. Register brand. Hire someone who replicate you and brand. Enjoy Soda. Most of the people who are not always on social media are always appreciated for their image.
  • Identify your core expertise – build your LinkedIn profile accordingly, create and share relevant content on relevant social media groups. Create a presence on Quora. Begin participating in online debates such as
  • For today’s world, it would be tough to succeed by leveraging only one platform. Re-purpose content and be around on all possible platforms your target audience is at.
  • The platform which you are comfortable with and where you find your kind of people and audience.
  • First of all you an individual need to be super active Keep engaging Share unique content on day to day basis in a particular niche in which you have an expertise.
