Brand storytelling isn’t a new concept, but with the explosive growth of social media and content marketing, the opportunities to tell stories as part of direct and indirect brand marketing initiatives have become a strategic priority.

Brand storytelling, when done properly, allows marketers to build personality and associate emotion with a brand to create a personal connection with the consumer.

Marketers have been telling brand stories for years through advertising, in-person brand experiences, and so on, but the art of writing those brand stories as effective pieces of online content is a challenge that few are trained to do.

That’s because the best brand storytellers understand the critical elements of fiction writing, which are skills that few marketers have been formally trained to do. So here are a few tips on how to effectively build your brand story through Social Media:

1. Create a story and infuse characters that your audience can resonate and connect with:

It is very important that the story you have or create are infused with characters and personalities that your audience can resonate with. Because only then will they be able to understand and bond with the brand.

2. Be honest with what you say by including images that are close to you and powerful for your brand:

Giving a visual prospect to your story has become super easy with social media. Feel free to add images, videos, gifs, whatever you feel best portrays your brand story. Make sure that the creatives are 100% original as it would really help generate trust in the minds of the audience.

3. Have clarity and be conversational:

With the advent of social media, the process of storytelling which was once only one sided now has changed. Make sure to have a conversation with your target audience so as to best deliver the message. Ask questions and answer theirs. Have clarity in what you say and build a repo with your audience.

4. Don’t forget to create a social base for your storytelling:

Probably this needs to be taken care at the initial stages before you even begin delivering your brand story. Only when you have a great social media base only then can you reach million hearts through your story. So Make sure you have strong social media presence.

5. Believe in what you say and accordingly have a similar online presence, and stick to it till the end:

This is the most important of it all that is to believe in your word. Only when you believe in what you say will others trust you. Work as per your belief and your word, and never deviate and never do something that contradicts with your brand story.
