Brands Campaigns on Social Media about International Men’s Day 2016

If asked about Women’s Day, one surely remembers the date – 8th March. Why not of Men’s day, when we discuss about gender neutrality & equality every single day? We tried our bit to spread awareness about this day and captured some brand campaigns on this International Men’s Day 2016.

International Men’s Day (IMD) is an annual international event celebrated on 19 November. The objectives of celebrating an International Men’s Day include focusing on men’s and boys’ health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting male role models. It is an occasion to highlight discrimination against men and boys and to celebrate their achievements and contributions, in particular for their contributions to community, family, marriage, and child care. The broader and ultimate aim of the event is to promote basic humanitarian values.

Objectives of International Men’s Day:
International Men’s Day is a time for many people to reflect on the contributions, sacrifices and progress made by men in society. Such progress includes that of men working together with women to make educational, economic, social, and technological advances in society. Topics that may be discussed or showcased through various media, activities and events on the day may include:

• Men’s and boy’s health.
• The importance of gender equality.
• Improvements towards gender relations in all societies.
• Positive male role models for younger generations.
• Men’s roles in community, family, relationships and childcare.
• Healing and forgiveness.

Theme of 2016 Men’s day:
The theme for 2016 is Stop Male Suicide. The #internationalmensday hashtag became trending on twitter and several brands like Flipkart & Titan also participated in promoting the cause. Let us see how International Men’s Day was celebrated on Twitter:

Flipkart Launched a campaign called #InternationalMensDIY, where in participants were asked to tweet about the meanest things that were said about their grooming and they would get a chance to win a trip to Switzerland.
